Nike’s Converse platform shoes are making their way onto the fiercest selling fashion trends of the year, according to a study by the fashion analytics company NPD Group.
Nike Converse Shoes on Fendi are in the top 5 of all models sold in North America, according the NPD study, which is based on a tally of more than 9,000 retailers in more than 60 countries.
Converse’s sneakers sold the most sneakers of any brand in North American retail in the first quarter of this year, the study found.
NPD says Nike shoes accounted for nearly half of all the sneaker sales in North Americans in the period.
The NPD report found that Converse sales in the U.S. rose 11.7 percent in the quarter ended March 27, from $6.8 billion to $7.6 billion, as the company ramped up its distribution network, including its brick-and-mortar stores.
It also increased the number of stores in its distribution area from 17 to 25.
In addition to its Converse shoes, Nike also has a new line of Converse sneakers and sneakers for women.
The company also has two new Converse womens shoes, including a version for women that uses the brand’s Concrete technology.
