A man in his late 20s wearing womens sneakers in a mall in New York says it’s because he’s a feminist.
“I think we need to take a stand for women’s rights, but we need support, and if we have the support, we can get a lot done,” said the man, who asked not to be named.
The man, a graphic designer who works in the fashion industry, said he started wearing women-friendly footwear at a mall last year.
He said it was a reaction to the sexual assault and sexual harassment he experienced in the industry.
He said the shoe company was kind enough to make the footwear, and he bought the shoes online.
“It was a good thing to do, because they’re pretty cheap and they’re super comfortable, but it’s kind of hard to find shoes for guys,” he said.
The shoes he purchased have a small, gold clasp, and come in a variety of colors and styles, such as red, pink and black.
He also purchased women’s shoes to wear with them.
The shopper said the company has not responded to his request for an interview.
He has filed a police report.
The shoe company said it has no comment to offer on the matter.
