You probably didn’t know that Nike’s iconic air force 1 was created in the mid-1970s as a sleek, futuristic design that was meant to evoke the 1950s.
The company, whose products are still revered by sneakerheads and fans of the sport, has been making a return to the world of sneakers in the past few years with a number of shoes that have been inspired by its original.
For example, Nike’s signature Nike Air Force 3, the sneaker you see in the movie Avatar, is a collaboration between the shoe company and director James Cameron.
The Air Force 4, which was unveiled in 2015 and was modeled after the Nike Air Jordan 4, is inspired by the Nike XFL and the Air Force 2, which both feature the Nike Zoom Flyknit technology.
And last but not least, Nike has made a return with its Air Jordan XI, which features a modern design and an aggressive silhouette inspired by a future military aircraft.
The sneakers are just a few of the things Nike has been bringing back to the globe since the mid-’90s.
